Our story
Airpals started in 2018 with one man walking people through his own city. Steven Sekamatte — everyone calls him Steve — born and raised in Uganda, licensed guide, founder. No investors, no foreign owner, no head office on another continent.
That last part matters more than it should. Most safari companies operating in East Africa are foreign-owned — you fly to Uganda, but much of your money doesn't. Airpals is the other kind.
Today we're three named hosts — Steve, Gertrude and Olivia — working with ten local partners: drivers, cooks, boat captains, trackers. When a trip needs more hands, they're Ugandan hands, paid properly.
What we believe is on every page of this site: real prices you can book instantly, an honest breakdown of where your money goes, months we'll tell you to skip, and a host whose name you know before you land.
The paperwork — because you shouldn't take our word for anything:
- Airpals Safaris Tour is a licensed tour operator — UTB/RTT/TT/2025/101629 — verify it on the UTB register.
- Steve is a licensed tour guide — UTB/TG/2023/10693.
- TripAdvisor award-winner every year since 2019 — 4.9/5 from 300+ reviews, ranked #1 of 58 nature & park activities in Kampala.
Come walk with us first. The rest of Uganda follows naturally.
