Booking & cancellation policy

Plain rules, written to be read. If anything here worries you, WhatsApp us before you book — a person answers.

Walks, classes and day trips

These are paid in full when you book. Cancel 3 or more days before the start and you get a full refund. Inside 3 days there's no refund, but we'll move you to another date once, for free. If you don't show up, the booking is used — your host reserved the day for you.

Multi-day trips

These are held with a 30% deposit. Cancel 30 or more days before the trip starts: full deposit refund. 15–29 days before: we refund half the deposit. Under 15 days: the deposit is gone — lodges and drivers are already committed by then. The remaining balance is only ever charged with your agreement, online or in cash on arrival.

Gorilla and chimpanzee treks

Your deposit buys your permit immediately — the Uganda Wildlife Authority requires full payment when a permit is booked, and permits follow UWA's own refund rules, which we pass through exactly: 75% refunded with 91+ days' notice, sliding down after that, and 50% if a park warden confirms you're too ill to trek on the day. We refund whatever UWA refunds us, plus the non-permit part of your deposit under the multi-day rule above. The full permit facts are on our permit check page.

If we cancel

If we ever cancel — weather that makes a trip unsafe, a problem on our side, anything that's ours — you get 100% back, including payment fees, within 7 days. Or we move you to a date you prefer. Your choice.

Illness

Sick, with a doctor's note? We reschedule any trip once, free, within 12 months of the original date.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back the way you paid — card or mobile money via Pesapal — and typically arrive within 5–10 business days. You never have to chase us: WhatsApp any time to ask where a refund is.
