How much does a Uganda gorilla permit cost?
US $800 per person for foreign non-residents, or $600 in the low-season months of April, May and November. The price is set by the Uganda Wildlife Authority in its official conservation tariff.
Do gorilla permits have to be paid upfront?
Yes — UWA requires full payment at the moment a permit is booked. Reservation holds were abolished in March 2026. That is why our gorilla trek deposit is 50%: it buys your permit the day we confirm your dates.
Are gorilla permits refundable?
Barely. UWA refunds 75% only if you cancel 91 or more days before the trek, and less the closer it gets. A park warden can approve a 50% refund if you are confirmed too ill to trek on the day.
How far in advance should I book a gorilla permit?
For high season (June–September, December–February), 4–8 months ahead is realistic — daily permits per gorilla family are fixed and they genuinely sell out. Low season is more forgiving. Tell us your dates and we check availability for free.
